Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring 2010

The outfits at the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture show were immense. They were like if a jumble sale of random costumes exploded and landed elegantly on pale, powdered models with corn rows. The looks were a mix of many gathered inspirations - from pirate themes to tribal and african vibes, the variation was startling.

There was models in large brown pirate hats, some in formal style corset dresses - very Kiera Knightly in Pirates of the Caribbean - but the dresses were modernised and packed a punch, with leather woven corsets. The pointy bra make an appearance too - used as an addition to dresses for an extra layer. There was also a bit of a "costumes of Asia" type theme, with hats, skirts - you name it - randomly mixed in with everything else. Overall it was a particularly interesting show with captivating clothes that made you want to jump aboard a ship and live out a little adventure.
