Make-up Bag Essentials

Here’s a rundown of the top essentials for your make-up bag. Make sure to always store your make-up correctly and check the use-by date - Make-up doesn’t stay fresh forever!

1. Foundation Primer - I’ve always found primer helpful in keeping my make-up put on a long shopping trip or on a night out.  Concealing primer - like benefit’s lemonaid helps cover blemishes on your eyes, while preparing them for eyeshadow application.
2. Highligher and bronzer - I find highlighter and bronzer, when applied at the right places, can really help define my face and give it more structure. I like this one -  Guerlain’s Terracotta.

3. An eyeshadow pallette that you suits you - on MAC’s website you can handpick your own pallette from shades you love. Alternatively, just pick a good pallette that you’ve tested on your skin beforehand and your happy that the colours suit your skin tone.
Bobbi Brown also has custom pallette’s like the one below.

4. A great lipgloss and lipstick in neutral shades - this is a very simple essential. I love to have a nice, flavoured lipgloss I can throw on my lips without much fuss to add a little extra glamour to my look. My favorite is a lipgloss by Chanel.

5. Kohl and liquid eyeliner - the basics in eyeliner, essential for creating numerous looks. I love using liquid eyeliner on both the bottom and top of my eyes. Kohl is really good at creating a smudge effect for smokey, rock chic eyes.
I like this black crayon style kohl by Sephora.
6.The perfect foundation - liquid and powder. I always have a liquid and powder foundation, but it really depends on what type of skin you have. Oily skin works well with powder foundation, as it tends to keep the skin matt and dry. Liquid foundation is easy to spread and makes for a dewy complexion.
This oil-free formula by Clinique is perfect for both skin types.

7. The best brushes - Brushes are important and can help you apply your make-up much more efficiently. Lipstick brushes are vital for a perfect pout. I find my foundation brush indispensable for easy foundation application.
Bobbi Brown’s brushes are always being praised for their durability.

8.Mascara - an important essential in any girls make-up bag. If you prefer a natural look, try a brown mascara. I always slick on one layer of Mascara if I don’t have time to put my full make-up.
Dior’s Diorshow Mascara has a great plumping effect and is highly pigmented.

9. Eyebrow pencil - I love eyebrow pencils and think they’re crucial for creating a glamorous look. Eyebrows can be used to sculpt your look and really give your face an extra wow factor. This one by YSL has an attached eyebrow comb.

10. Eyelash curlers - eyelash curlers are great for when your lashes are looking a little short and when you combine the effect with a few layers of mascara, your eyelashes can end up looking long and voluptuous.
These simple ones by Shiseido have had great reviews!
