Fashion File: Sasha Pivovarova

Russian Model, Sasha Pivovarova has had an extensive modelling career and this is still just the beginning. Her doll-like beauty set off a wave of new generation of models - ones with similar dolly eyes and porcelain skin, such as Lily Cole.





Sasha didn’t start out to become a model - she attended a Russian University to study Art History. She was discovered when her now husband, Igor Vishnyakov sent some photos he’d taken of her to IMG Modelling.

Sasha is a truly unique model, not only in looks but in personality too. Her fashion sense has made the fashion world notice her even more and personally, she is my favourite model. Her unique sense of style - which can vary from Chanel to vintage finds always means Sasha stands out. I love her mix of clothing - from harem trousers to 50’s style dresses and boyish leather jackets - Sasha manages to rock anything she puts together.



She didn’t leave behind her artistic skills when she took to the runway though. Sasha’s art has been featured in French Vogue and is displayed in galleries in Paris and New York. At the moment Sasha is illustrating a book for Karl Lagerfeld which is based on Russian Fairy Tales. She’s currently living in Brooklyn, New York.


Her modelling career has seen her walk for Chanel, Balenciaga, Rodarte, Christian Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier as well as fronting numerous campaigns for Prada and Mulberry.



She is also close friends with fellow Russian model, Vlada Roslyakova.
