NYFW: Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

Marc Jacobs tore down the curtain to reveal lines of models standing perfectly like mannequins in a window -  dressed in his latest creations. Marc showed off his new Fall/Winter line, which was also streamed live online to the sound of a spooky rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. The clothes were all neutral or pastel coloured - there was never a harsh moment throughout the collection. Each piece had a certain romance and femininity to it.

There was a vast selection of clothing - from plastic raincoats, to cute little ankle socks and big knit cardigans and sweaters - everything was very classic. Marc commented after the show about this classic vibe which was present throughout:
“There's so much striving for newness now that newness feels less new."
Marc created a sense of refreshment in not trying so hard to be new - but he was still wonderfully original as well asmanaging to create a well thought out, engaging show.
