Trend Alert: Catching A Wave

This Spring/Summer designers rode on the wave of the surfer to success - with all-in-one swimsuit pieces, tie-dye, lux mini-dresses and printed playsuits. The sun, surf and sand caused quite a stir at many of the shows with some of the most playful looks being beach inspired.

At the Gucci show there was swimsuits which were made sexy with heels but still managed to look sporty.

Marc by Marc Jacobs and BCBG Max Azria showed surfer pieces such as long maxi dresses featuring bold prints and cute sundresses.

Blumarine lead the revolutionary wave by creating a mix of coloured tie-dye all over dresses, cropped tees and tiny hot pants for the ultimate in surfer chic.

Proenza Schouler's collection was clearly surf inspired too - with simple tie-dye t-shirts, bold patterned dresses and skirts - the pattern looked like waves on many of the garments which really added a surf element to the look. Their straw strappy sandals were clearly beach inspired too.

Here's a selection of runway looks to get you in inspired for the coming beach season - and some of my favourite beach buys to help you re-create this look too.
