The show began with a thunder clap - and then Karlie Kloss, strutting out in a long leather jacket teamed with a slip style dress and a top hat. The theme was from that moment obvious - we were going on a trip back to the 18th century. John Galliano created country classics with an equine feel - jodhpurs, smart riding jackets, top hats and check shirts. The models wore puffy, frizzy hair and pale faces to accompany the country style clothing.
Galliano successfully made this show diverse - with a good selection of knitwear (some with interesting knit styles), skirts and jackets. There did seem to be a large number of short slip style dresses which were teamed with practically everything but overlooking that one small mess up, the rest of the show was perfection. The jodhpurs, the eveningwear and the fur - it all made for some exceptional pieces - sometimes they did veer into the style John Galliano's own line, but for the most part it worked well for the Christian Dior label.
