Trend: 80's Update

I was a child of the 80's, and although I didn't have the opportunity to dress myself back then, I remember the acid bright yellow dungarees, the ladybird print t-shirts and the pink hair bows that made the 80's a decade of fashion change.

This Spring/Summer, an 80's revival has taken place - acid washed denim, bright colours and clashing patterns have all comes back, as well as the punk side of fashion - think over-sized t-shirts teamed with Doc Martins and denim jackets.

This trend was seen all over the catwalks for Spring, but my favourite take on the look was by Marc Jacobs, for Marc by Marc Jacobs. Marc injected new life into the formerly ugly 80's rejects - acid bright hair bows, all-in-one jumpsuits and clashing patterns made the looks almost completely taken directly from my early childhood.

To get the look: juxtapose the 80's style with modern minimalism for a subtle take on the trend. If you feel like going all out, try a high waisted denim skirt or shorts with a bold printed tee and some leather lace-up boots. Don't forget the make-up too - lashings of bright lipgloss and eyeshadow will make this look complete.
