As Seen on The Catwalk: Knitwear

Knitwear might seem like more of a Summer associated clothing piece, but this Spring/Summer, several designers set out to bring knitwear into the Spring/Summer season by re-inventing thick chunky knits.
Each designer put their own personal touch on the finishing product, but the overall look was similar: crochet styles made a huge comeback, especially exaggerated, loose crochet which can be worn over a vest or dress to add extra texture to your outfit, or on its own for a sexy take on the trend.

Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2010

Alexander Wang was one such designer, who remixed casual sweatpants and sweaters to give them a new lease of life. Loose, transparent crop sweaters were worn over jersey-style bras, or were teamed with some leather to add a touch of lux.

To get the Wang look, take a simple grey vest and tuck into some statement leather shorts - add socks if your feeling brave.

Rodarte Spring/Summer 2010

At Rodarte, a lightly woven material was wrapped around in a loose crochet effect and teamed with other materials for a textured look. The overall appearance was disheveled and vampy, yet subtly sexy. Look out for statement dresses which feature cut-outs to get this look.

Mark Fast Spring/Summer 2010

At the Mark Fast show, dresses were artfully crafted to bunch up over private parts, and showed off a seriously sexy amount of flesh. The look, similarly to Rodarte was like a loose knit, with added textures such as feathers, seen in the first look here. Topshop currently have a great selection of loosely knit dresses similar to these, a few of which I've feature below.
