The Best of Topshop's New Makeup Line

Topshop's newly launched makeup line is perfect for the fashion conscious on a budget. Not only do they have a specific section dedicated to addressing current makeup trends, but they have some pretty decent makeup staples too. In the nail varnish section, I stumbled on a Lilac pastel polish which is bang on the pastel nail polish trend that brands such as Illamasqua and Chanel are currently leading. The price? A mere £5.00. Add to basket.

The make-up line does fall down a bit in the design. When I first heard about the makeup line, I envisioned glamorous gold boxes with a vintage rose carving, and pretty pink overtones. Unfortunately Topshop didn't take the classic route with the design, and opted for drawn on scribbles on plain white packaging.

Overlooking the slightly boring packaging, the makeup is at the perfect price point (almost all of it is under £10.00), so you don't have to think of your budget when indulging in some random new eyeshadow or an interesting shade of polish.

Topshop have also created some designer doppelgangers - their under-eye brush-on concealer Brighten in Moonlight comes in at £7.00 and looks like a similar product to Yves Saint Laurent's Touché Eclat. Their highlighting powder makes me think of several brightening products from Benefit, and their nail polish looks very similar to Nails Inc. polishes, including colour choices.

All in all, this looks like a decent range of budget makeup products that most people will add to their baskets just to try out. The price allows you to update your makeup collection and inject some fashionable colours without spending your savings, and they aren't that uneasy on the eye either.

Here is a glimpse at a few of the best products on offer at the moment, all available on the Topshop website, and in selected stores.
