Hermés have just announced that the creative director of the design house, Jean Paul Gaultier has decided to leave. Gaultier will present the coming collection in October as his last collection with Hermés:

"After seven fruitful years of creative partnership, Hermès and Jean-Paul Gaultier artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear, have decided to bring to an end their collaboration allowing Jean-Paul Gaultier to concentrate on his own projects, the spring-summer 2011 collection to be revealed in October 2010 will be the last collection created by Jean-Paul Gaultier for Hermès. Hermès is deeply grateful to Jean-Paul Gaultier for his outstanding creative contribution during these seven years.”
Rumours are already circulating that Christophe Lemaire, who is currently the creative director of Lacoste may replace him, starting with Autumn/Winter 2011, but this is yet to be confirmed by Hermés.
Hermés will remain a 45% shareholder in Gaultier's own label.
Gaultier has worked as creative director for the historic fashion house for 7 years.
