Nails have been given a makeover for Summer, as polishes take their inspiration from the ocean, with tonnes of different shades of blue becoming available from the usual nail experts. Coming out on top of the pile is Chanel's
Nouvelle Vague, which many cheaper brands have set out to copy. The light and bright blue colour is definitely a colour that will make your nails stand out, and don't forget to treat your toes to the colour too - perfect for setting off a pair of white or metallic sandals.
For a deeper shade of blue, check out Illamasqua
Deep Blue shade, which is almost electric, but is just dark enough not to be too shocking. Model's Own have created a pastel version of the trend, a really light greyish blue named
Beth's Blue, which is quite close to mink (another hot nail trend) and would look complimentary on tanned hands.
Topshop have a few blue nail polishes in their new makeup range, including a blue named The Big Easy
which looks like a darker version of Model's Own Beth's Blue. Dior's shade of blue is an oldie, but still a goodie - their dark shade named Poison Blue, perfect for a vampy, grungy take.
For a quick fix, try Barry M - a brand renowned for their colourful polishes, which is currently stocking several blues, including a really vibrant shade named Cyan Blue and a lighter pastel version named Blueberry Ice-Cream.
