Donna Karan's expertial mix of drapey feminine pieces and strong masculine separates made for an exquisite base for her 2011 Resort collection.
Karan opted to showcase the line in a runway show as opposed to showroom appointments, creating the perfect atmosphere for this line to debut. While models were shown accessorized with sleek ponytails, strappy heels and chunky jewelry, the focus remained on Karan's blend of hard and soft, all with an atmospheric twist.
Karan's blousey silhouettes mixed with tailored jackets and boyish charm allowed for a cohesive yet current collection perfect for the working woman. Neutrals such as black, white and navy were the platform for the understated elegance of the pieces, while a dash of silver and even star-printed fabrics added some excitement. Small doses of ruffles, feathers and ties, and larger elements such as drapery and bohemian inspired silhouettes allowed for the collection to be truly versatile and unique.
