Jason Wu Resort 2011: Preppy Meets Parisian

June 4, 2010 - Jason Wu's resort collection, shown at the St. Regis hotel, New York managed to perfectly fuse contemporary preppy garments with romantic Parisian glamour. Straw hats and strong tailoring added the preppy edge to floaty, shift dresses with dark feathered abstract print featuring all over. The dresses conjured up images of Parisian romance - with tropical colours splashed onto opulent dresses which were teamed with  sunglasses and heels.

A preppy feel was introduced subtly with straw boat hats, nautical stripes and sharp masculine suits - a look which slowly disappeared towards the climax of the show, when several floaty dresses made an appearance, each with the same feathered pattern as before - but this time on floor length, figure hugging gowns in a sophisticated bias-cut.

Despite a few negative reviews after Wu's Fall collection, this solid resort collection will no doubt have Wu in the midst of a hype once again, thanks to these strong, feminine designs that are elegant yet modern.
