Marc Jacobs was not named womenswear designer of the year at the CFDA awards for no reason - and for his Marc by Marc Jacob’s resort collection, Marc proved his worth yet again.
Inspired quite loosely by a dancer’s wardrobe, the collection, which was quite pared back for Marc, displayed unrestricting dresses with a mix of simple, fitted tops and boyish shorts - with a pattern here and there, or a ruffle detailing, but other then that, quite minimal. Tan accessories brought the abundant of colour, ranging from deep violet to sailor blue, together.
This was a collection with mass appeal, from the flawless range of girlish dresses that takes the wearer from day to night, to the masculine tailored shorts which were teamed with matching slinky, tucked in tops - a look which would have almost veered on overt androgyny if it wasn’t for the subtle detailing which infused the pieces with a delicate, ladylike touch.
