Michael Kors 2011 Resort Collection

Michael Kors' 2011 Resort Collection is diversely inspired by places the designer has vacationed to. Each piece is a "destination," whether it be his trip to St. Barts or his trip to Utah. The line is somewhat casual, which is exactly what it should be since traveling should be comfortable.

The colors remain neutral with white, tan, and black, yet there are apricot pieces mixed in for a punch of color. Elements of fur and cashmere incorporate rich textures. From trench coats to t-shirt gowns to python-patterned, one piece swimwear, this collection has it all for wherever you're traveling to, even if it is just to grab coffee with your friends in the city.

Minimal accessories let each piece stand out. Brown belts and bags were paired with sandals or flat boots. Fedoras and rimmed hats were seen atop some model's heads, while a statement amethyst necklace was the sole piece of jewelry.

It's no wonder Kors is receiving the Council of Fashion Designers' Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award tomorrow night. This line is a noteworthy collection, as is its designer.
