Versace Resort 2011: 60's Sex Kitten

Versace’s essence is all about youth, and you can tell from this sex kitten inspired resort collection that Versace is still very much all about being young. Acid brights teamed with breezy pastels were the epitome of resort - fun, airy, chic.

The looks were noticeably 60’s inspired, from the high-waisted look which teamed a matching safari jacket with tailored trousers, to the sleeveless dresses, and punchy knitwear - it was all quite simple, but given a pizzazz with bold colours and a few understated patterns.

The shoes from the collection were the most intricate part of the collection - colours, patterns and different designs caught the eye and added even more colour to the already eye-boggling outfits. The looks were topped off with boxy acid bright bags - even more colour, but somehow it didn’t end up being over the top.

Donatella amazed us with the Spring/Summer 2010 collection, and this resort collection shows her going back to that same sort of vibe - which is a positive move. When something works, you don’t need to ditch it, just reinvent it.
