How To Wear Fall's Bold Lips

For the coming Fall season, bold lips were a frequent feature on the runway. From chocolate shades to deep plums, there was a variety of colour, all which stood out for being dark, elegant and striking. Here is a look at some of the shades we saw on the runway for the Fall/Winter season, and how to recreate the look yourself.

Chanel Hauté Couture Fall 2010

For the Chanel Hauté Couture show, the eyes were kept completely bare, while lipstick was lightly applied for a slightly faded, but still strong lip. To get the look choose a light red shade, and make sure your foundation is flawless, use plenty of highlighter and lay off the powder - skin was glowing with a slight, natural shine.

Givenchy Fall/Winter 2010

Givenchy's Fall/Winter makeup featured  one of the strongest lips on the runway - to get this look, first outline your lip with a liner which is the same or similar shade to your lipstick  - make sure to remove any errors so once the lips are filled in with colour, the end result is flawless. This look was slightly glossy, so go for a lipstick or stain that leaves a sheen. Finish off the look with Givenchy's peachy eyes.

Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2010

Dolce & Gabbana's makeup was vampy with moody plum lips and a small dose of liquid eyeliner. This look isn't about being too precise with the lips - one layer of lipstick is just the right amount to achieve this carefree look - use liquid eyeliner as close as possible to the upper lash line to achieve this simple thick eyelashes look without it looking too obvious.

Jean Paul Gaultier Hauté Couture Fall 2010

At the Jean Paul Gaultier's Hauté Couture show, the models wore bold lips with statement eyes - this look makes an impact - perfect for an evening out.
To get the look use a glossy red lipstick on your lips, and then combine a deep brown with a dark charcoal eyeshadow to create a smoky effect on your eyes. To make a big entrance, smudge your shadow out beyond the corner of your eye,  add faux eyelashes and lashings of liquid eyeliner - this look is all about going all out.
