Lara Stone to Sue French Playboy

Lara Stone is taking legal action against French Playboy, who published photos of her in which were allegedly unauthorised. The photos in question appeared in the June issue of Playboy, but were photographed in 2009 by photographer Greg Lotus.

One of the images that appeared in Playboy
Lara made a statement, saying that she will be taking legal action to protect her own reputation as a model:

"Playboy had no right to publish these unauthorised photographs. It's not the kind of publication I would ever choose to appear in, I feel I have no option but to take steps to protect my reputation."
Lara has lined up lawyers to commence action in Paris against French Playboy and photographer Greg Lotus, neither of which have commented on the situation as of yet.

Lara did not appear nude in the magazine, and some may argue that she has even appeared nude for other publications - so what is the big deal? Well, ultimately, it takes away her right to decide what publications she chooses to work for, something which she should be allowed to decide for herself. Being a well respected model, and the face of several labels, Lara's public image is just as important as anything else, and this could have been damaging for her image if she didn't speak out against it.
