Gareth Pugh Opens First Store in Hong Kong

Gareth Pugh has opened his first ever store over the weekend, located in the center of Hong Kong. The British designer's boutique is true to his usual gothic-inspired taste and features no window display. Pugh told WWD:

"Because it was my first store, I knew I had to do something that was very me, I went back to my runway shows and thought, 'what could be more me than a black box?'"

The store is located on Ice House Street, which is the same street that Comme des Garcons and Ann Demeulemeester are also located on. Pugh continues:

"I like that there is Margiela just up the street, Gucci round the corner and Hermès across the road, it creates a sense of luxury around the brand and what I do that may not be so apparent in other cities, such as London."

The new store will feature an LED screen which will showcase some films that Gareth made in collaboration with filmmaker Ruth Hogben, and one thing is for sure, Pugh will continue to stay true to this design ethos.
