Trend: Exposed Pockets on Shorts

There's a debate as to whether pockets peeping out from under jean shorts is tacky or trendy. Typically it's assumed that if pockets are showing then the shorts are pretty short, but truthfully the shorts don't have to be particularly short to try this trend. A lot of denim cut offs come in different lengths, but still incorporate the pocket detail. The distressed and shredded look only add to the possibility of pockets making their own little debut beyond the hem. Think of pockets as a statement piece, giving your denim a messy, but sexy kind of look.

Some pockets come in the basic white linen color, but for those that have print and color, they are obviously meant to be seen. I'm guessing if designers such as Dsquared2 and Diesel Black Gold are sending their denim pieces down the runway with pockets out, then it's a good suggestion on how to wear them.
