Trend: Silver & Gold

Silver and gold came down the runways for Autumn/Winter this season - everything from spray-paint shades of the metallic colours, to glitzy sequins and embellishments adorned pieces on runways such as Balmain, Dries van Noten and Diane von Furstenberg.

These dazzling colours were used on short mini-dresses, floor length skirts and elegant long-sleeved tops to reinforce the idea that classic, womanly glamour is back in full force.

Dries van Noten used metallic material fashioned into dresses and trenches, the look was fierce and ultimately feminine. Diane von Fustenberg's metallic silver dress was similar to this idea - short, sexy with an emphasis on luxury. Christophe Decarnin took the metallic look to the next level for Balmain: gold embellishments on trousers, and opulent jackets with paisley gold print, as well as leather trousers sprayed with a tint of silver.

Isabel Marant's gold look featured a sporty jacket teamed with patterned capri pants - the look was casual, yet opulent. At PPQ and Blumarine, the trench coat was given a makeover, the trench was featured in a solid gold finish at PPQ, and a lighter blended look in deep blue at Blumarine.

Donatella Versace went for a bold look, with a sculptural bodice piece made out of real metal, which featured a tassled metal skirt for her line at Versace this season.

Thankfully, this look is a really simple one: add a metallic-finished jacket to a classic black cocktail dress, or some silver Jimmy Choo's to recreate this elegant runway look.
