Mario Testino Talks on Model Weight, Kate Moss

Photographer Mario Testino opened his first exhibition in Madrid, Spain on Monday named "Todo o Nada," and while there, made some comments on how he feels about models and the weight issue which often surrounds them. Firstly, he says that Kate Moss has been his muse, and explains why she stands out, not just for her good looks:
Kate Moss with Mario Testino
“not just because of her beauty. There are thousands and thousands of models, but very few with her attitude toward life.”

He addresses the weight issue by stating:

“I think the world has greater problems than anorexia. Fashion uses young models, it always has, and of course they’re skinny. I was skinny too at their age.”

According to WWD, his new exhibition features a plethora of his various work so far:

"The 54-photo exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum features everything from Stella Tennant dressed as a modern-day Marie Antoinette in powdered wig and lavish ruffled ballgown to a nude Sienna Miller with the tiniest five-point star on her bikini line."

He explains why he chose Spain for the home of his exhibition:

“because even though I live in London and the Anglo-Saxon culture has helped me to be me, exhibiting here is almost like being accepted by my own. The cultures are similar, but my work is sunnier, with more color than traditional Spanish art.”
