Original Supermodel: Claudia Schiffer

Claudia Schiffer is one of the original supermodels of the 1990’s. She was born August 25, 1970 in Rheinberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In 1987, at 17 Claudia was discovered by Michel Levaton a modeling agent at a nightclub. A few weeks later after graduating high school Claudia flew to Paris, where she took her first test shoot and soon landed the cover of French Elle magazine.

She reached supermodel status when Karl Lagerfeld selected Claudia to become the new face of Chanel. She then became an international sensation when she appeared in the sexy Guess? advertisements in the early 1990’s - launching her name worldwide by appearing on five magazine covers in the United States, and seven magazine covers around Europe.Claudia has appeared on over 500 magazine covers. She has appeared many times on the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. Claudia has done catwalk modeling for high end fashion designers such as Versace, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Ralph Lauren to name a few.

Claudia has also been the face of Mango, a Spanish chain of clothing stores. She has held contracts with L'Oréal, Ebel watches, Yves Saint Laurent, Alberta Ferretti, Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace and Pepsi.
Besides having a successful modeling career Claudia has also appeared in feature films such as Richie Rich, Black & White, Friends & Lovers, Life Without Dick, Love Actually and Zoolander.

Claudia married film producer Matthew Vaughn on May 25, 2002. She has three children, Caspar born January 30, 2003, Clementine born November 9, 2004 and Cosima Violet born May 14, 2010.
