Valentino to Collaborate With Gap

Last week, we found out about Lanvin's collaboration with H&M. This week, it's Valentino for Gap. Designers may have gone collaboration crazy, but I don't think there is many complaining. Fashion house Valentino plan to create a capsule collection for Gap, which will be an affordable womanswear line by the house's designers, Maria Grazia Chiui and Pier Paolo Piccioli.

The collection will only be released in a selected few European stores, and will not be available in the US. The launch of the collaboration will be in conjunction with the opening of a new Gap store in Milan, which will take place at the end of November this year. The collection will become available at the Milan store, followed by Dover Street Market in London, Colette in Paris and Gap's flagship store in London.

The two creative directors, Chiuri and Piccioli have said about the exciting collaboration:

"We are very pleased that Gap thought of us as a partner for this intimate project, as it brings together the iconic world of Valentino and Gap's fashion essentials, in this way, Valentino and Gap synthesise the current trend of combining luxury with basics."
This collaboration is likely to be a simple, sophisticated capsule collection with crisp clean lines and sharp cuts to give a Valentino edge on the usual Gap attire. The president of Gap comments:

"We're thrilled to be welcomed by the house of Valentino, with its unique position in Italy's fashion heritage and to work with Maris Grazia and Pier Paolo, and their modern, fresh take on women's style."
