2011: Bringing back the Bicycle

As environment obsessive beings swarm the streets with their cardboard protests and solar panelled hearts; the comfortable seating and beneficial speed that the beloved car possesses is simply an environmentalist's worst nightmare. But all is not lost in the depths of fuel and pollution, as fashion is proudly welcoming the bicycle back to the road!

Whether it's the stressful hustle of city life, or the tranquil surroundings of rural countryside; the car is gradually being brushed aside by this health-wise and eco-friendly means of transport. However, gone were the days where a scruffy and dated pair of old trainers were shamefully worn underneath a suit trouser or maxi dress; for 2010/2011 the fashion world is screaming cycle chic.

So say a thankful goodbye to head-to-toe lycra and say a delicious hello to the Marc Jacob's cycle cap, Alexander Wang vests, and that classic pair of Supergra trainers. Icons in the fashion industry such as Alexa Chung and Agyness Deyn are also fond members of this cycle chic phenomenon.

The city cyclist has always owned an aura of harmony and sparkle as they float to and from their place of work; whilst a country rider never fails to posses that look of serenity and contentment as they potter through the hilly lanes on their two-wheeled companions. So truthfully what is there to stop us from hopping onto those enchanting wheels in a pair of Armani shorts? Nothing. Therefore, I vote for the world to hang up their car keys and push those pedals!
