Trend Report: Leather Shorts

Leather shorts have quietly been creeping into every stylists wardrobe over the last two seasons, from high-waisted 80’s inspired shorts to leather hotpants, this is a versatile trend that has evolved from street style to catwalk and then back again. Although leather shorts made a small reappearance back in 2008 at Versace, Spring/Summer 2010 saw the trend come back with a elegant edge, seen at Alexander Wang, Hermés and Fendi.
The trend featured again for Spring/Summer 2011, reappearing at Hermés and Balmain, so this is the perfect time to invest in a pair that are likely to see you through at least two seasons. On the street, leather shorts have been popping up everywhere. Model Daiane Conterato was seen leaving Paris fashion week in a black nappa leather folded pair, while Miroslava Duma, editor for Harper’s Bazaar Russia was spotted in an oversized vintage-inspired brown pair of shorts which she juxtaposed with an opulent t-shirt.
