Marc Jacobs Enlists Andrej Pejic

In a bold move, Marc Jacobs has cast androgynous model Andrej Pejic alongside model Ginta Lapina for his upcoming Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011 campaign, which as always, will be shot by photographer Juergen Teller.

Andrej is known as the epitome of fashionable androgyny with long platinum hair and a perfectly chiseled model face. Andrej has recently appeared alongside models Freja Beha Erichsen, Iselin Steiro and Iris Strubegger in Vogue Italia (see the editorial here), and has also starred in an editorial for Vogue Paris (see here).

Last season, Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci enlisted close friend Lea T, who is a transgender model, to appear in his Fall/WInter 2010 campaign. Lea was formerly a fit model who met Tisci while he was still in college. Tisci said about his controversial move at the time: "She's a true goddess. She's always been very feminine - super-fragile, very aristocratic. She's part of the family."

  1. I've never heard Andrej identify himself as transgender. He's androgynous looking and they play that up in his photoshoots but he's never come out as actually saying he's either transgender or gender queer. Not the same thing.

  2. andrej isn't a transgender. no offense, but get your facts straight.

  3. Sorry, clearly taken from a bad source, it will be fixed.

  4. Sorry for the confusion, it's been edited now. Andrej is a truly fascinating model, I'm really excited to see this campaign!
