America's latest fashion export Olivia Palermo is adorned with lavish jewels and accessories are accentuated in January's Vogue España. In an editorial entitled "La Niña Bonita" - shot by Astrid Muñoz - the focus is firmly placed on jewellery - necklaces are layered, jewels oversized, bangles chunky, diamonds dripping, delicate tiaras donned and cocktail rings in abundance - all of the above supplied by the jewellery heavyweights such as Bvlgari, Boodles and De Beers. Quite simply, jewellery adopts a 'costume' form.
Having collaborated with Roberta Freymann for 'The Roberta Freymann by Olivia Palermo Collection'- which featured bib- like heavily-embellished necklaces - Palermo was the perfect model for the shoot, and its message is [crystal] clear - jewellery shouldn't be supplementary to an outfit, but it should constitute it.
After all, diamonds are a girl's best friend.
