Although loosely inspired by Danish film actress Anna Karina, Peter Jensen's Autumn/Winter 2011 lookbook has a sunny Los Angeles backdrop. Starring Tennesse Thomas and Diva Dompe, the lookbook endeavors to tell a cool tale of summer romance, while showing off Jensen's penchant for designing pieces with a natural retro swing. With plastic bonnets, 60's style tailoring and wooly knits, the designer has also loaded the collection with bright shades of red which is clashed with a icy baby blue and dark navy.
Speaking on his first lookbook, Jensen commented that he is currently obsessed with sourcing his inspiration from the 1960's, and that most of his inspiration is taken from classic films: "Yes, I am at the moment, I like the simplicity of the shapes, and the colours. I like all those Jacques Demy films, Catherine Deneuve looks amazing in them. I've used a lot of the Michel Legrand music from these films for catwalk shows."
Peter comments on what he believes are Winter staples: "Knitwear I think, I like the idea you can put a big jumper on over a dress, it's very easy (and very Anna-Karina)."
