As we saw when the Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2011 show took place at New York Fashion week recently (see the review & collection photos here), Jacobs has taken a 1940's vintage inspiration and given it a modern, seductive touch. The accessories also have attributes of this idea, with polka-dot totes, futuristic looking heeled snow boots and fluffy pom-pom headbands. The collection itself was sort of a melting pot of eras and ideas, but one that was pieced together delicately in order to make it work.
The various shoes on offer reflect his mix of ideas, with some designs elements that look taken from the 1940's, and others that look simply space age. The range of bags on offer for the season are adorably quirky - one, which looks as though it was modeled on a ladybird, and another polka-dot fuzzy clutch, as well as some other beige additions that exude a luxurious quality with a retro bite.
Other accessories in the collection include a pair of polka-dot gloves and some plastic headbands again adorned with a spotty motif. If your looking for retrofied elegance with a glamorous edge, as per usual, Marc Jacobs has just what you need.
