MFW: Dsquared2 Autumn/Winter 2011

Dsquared2 design duo Dan and Dean took their inspiration from the Wild West for the Autumn/Winter 2011 show, which took place at Milan Fashion Week. With towering wide-rimmed hats, long knit shawls, puffy-sleeve shirts and paper-bag high-waisted trousers - the twins have clearly been at least somewhat inspired by the Cohen brother’s film True Grit, turning Hailee Steinfeld’s character in to a muse for the collection, while adding something new to give it that sexy Dsquared2 shake up, giving it a punchy lift in to the present day.

Each layered look was topped off with lace-up boots, trimmings of fur and leather saddle bags. Dan and Dean added their usual staple jeans in with some of the looks, all the while keeping it sophisticated with tux-style jackets and bow collars.

Dsquared2 have certainly made better collections than this in the past, but this one didn’t stray dramatically from all we already know about Dsquared2 - it was fun and unenergetic, and it’s inspiration was bang on target.
