Balmain have just announced that their head designer Christophe Decarnin will be replaced by the unknown designer Olivier Rousteing, who has worked at Balmain for the last 3 years and before that, he's had 6 years experience working for Roberto Cavalli. According to Elle, Olivier was already in charge of a large portion of the design process, stating that Olivier was head of the "Womens Wear design studio at the fashion house, a position he has held since 2009". Balmain have clearly decided to ultimately keep things the way they were prior to Decarnin's departure, and with Olivier in place, it looks as though the French fashion house will be quite undisturbed by the change, and perhaps Olivier will have a fresh take on Decarnin's vision for the label.
