John Galliano Sacked From Own Label

WWD are reporting this morning that John Galliano has been fired from his position as head designer at the John Galliano label. Galliano set up the label in 1984, after he graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. According to an insider, a meeting was held between Galliano and Dior bosses who own  the label, and a decision has been made to remove the designer. A source commented:

"According to sources, the 17-year-old firm's board recently met and decided to eject the maverick British designer."

Galliano's eponymous label is currently 91 percent owned by Christian Dior SA. It has also been reported that without Galliano at the helm, the in-house design team who work for Dior will also be responsible for  "producing collections... A pre-spring collection is already said to be in the works."

Galliano recently completed a 1-month stint at a rehab facility in Arizona, and while arriving at Los Angeles airport, was heckled by reporters (read the story here).
