Balmain to Launch More Affordable 'Younger' Line

French fashion house Balmain has already seen considerable change in the last few months with Olivier Rousteing replacing Creative Director Christophe Decarnin (read full story here) and now the label has announced that it's launching a more affordable line. Balmain has always been notoriously expensive, with simple t-shirts often costing €1,000 and trousers priced at €3,000. The new line aims to be more youthful and will be named 'Pierre Balmain' after the label's founder. According to a Rep for Balmain, the line "will be younger and designed by a new team."

The new line will be funded by Italy’s Ittierre SpA and designed by a different design team than the current one at Balmain, but each design will be passed through Olivier Rousteing and his team before going ahead. There are reports that 'Pierre Balmain' will launch this September at New York Fashion Week, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
