On the 11th of May, department store Selfridges will launch 'Washed Up' - an exhibition which will show at their 'Wonder Room' in their London store. As the name suggests, the clothes on display all be somehow connected to the ocean, and the aim of the show is to raise awareness of overfishing and how it may impact on us in the future, all in support of
Project Ocean which aims to protect the ocean.
Curated by Judith Clark, the exhibition holds 26 pieces including garments and accessories ranging from vintage designs to current avant garde creations. The exhibition features designs taken from Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2010 jellyfish inspired ' Plato Atlantis' collection, as well as a bubble dress by Hussein Chalayan and a lobster headpiece by Philip Treacy which was made famous after Lady Gaga wore it on several occasions, and many other water themed gems by designers such as Gareth Pugh and Iris Van Herpen.
The exhibition runs from May 11 to June 12 at The Wonder Room, Selfridges.
