YSL Responds to Christian Louboutin Lawsuit

Recently, it was revealed that French shoe designer Christian Louboutin is suing French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent for creating a pair of red soled heels which were a part of the YSL Spring/Summer 2011 accessories collection. Christian Louboutin believes the YSL shoe is infringing upon his signature red sole which his heels are famous for. Louboutin already spoke about why he is suing (read the full story here) and now Yves Saint Laurent have kicked back with a statement that takes aim at Louboutin's creativity. The court papers as part of the lawsuit read:

"Red outsoles are a commonly used ornamental design feature in footwear, dating as far back as the red shoes worn by King Louis XIV in the 1600s and the ruby red shoes that carried Dorothy home in The Wizard of Oz, as an industry leader who has devoted his entire professional life to women's footwear, Mr Louboutin either knew or should have known about some or all of the dozens of footwear models that rendered his sworn statement false."
