Gareth Pugh is ready to reach new audiences - he's launching a full beauty line with MAC, which is set to hit stores come November. Pugh has previously teamed up with the makeup brand for a few collaborations, and now he's decided to make it a permanent collection. According to ElleUK, the beauty line is set to include a range of products with 'special packaging' that will be unveiled sometime next month at a cocktail launch party held in New York.
The new makeup line will also be used in the upcoming Gareth Pugh Spring/Summer 2012 show and is expected to take inspiration from his usually gothic colour palette, perhaps with a few shocking colour additions (electric blue perhaps?). Recently, Pugh commented that he needs to become more commercial in order to succeed in fashion:
"If you as a fashion designer, you do shows but you don’t sell, it kind of becomes a bit of a vanity project," he recently said. "You know that’s kind of how I started and that’s how I got going but kind of a more mature point of view it needs to obviously translate into things that sell and that’s a new challenge for me. The two need each other, business and creativity. It’s a weird mix but you need to have that balance, I think, now. Or I need to have that balance now, so I’ve made my peace with that."
Will Pugh's next collection see his designs become more wearable?
