From Model to Actress: The latest trend

Okay so a lot of actors and actresses model at some point in their careers – just look at Emma Watson in those beautiful Burberry adverts, or Tobey Maguire for Prada's AW11 campaign. This allows brands to associate themselves with a famous face, but what happens when models turn to acting?

Recently it’s become somewhat of a trend for supermodels to try their luck in Hollywood at the peak of their careers. A few years back when Lily Cole seemed unstoppable in the fashion world, she starred alongside the likes of Heath Ledger and Johnny Depp in 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus', and we’re all aware of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s recent main role appearance in the huge blockbuster ‘Transformers: Dark of the moon’.

It therefore came as no surprise to hear that Sasha Pivovarova has decided to join the fun by starring in a new sci-fi film called ‘In time’ as Justin Timberlake’s mother-in-law! In the trailer she can be seen sporting a sophisticated auburn bob, looking lovely as always.

But what is this obsessive need to be good at, well, everything? A model isn't just a model anymore...she'll be a supermodel, an actress and a film director as well as a dancer. Do all of these extra talents take away what was so special about her in the first place? Maybe we liked that she wasn't 'stereotypically pretty' and that instead of appearing bronze faced hollywood style on billboards she was only seen sporting high fashion, dressed like a doll or wearing extraordinary couture - our little's secret weapon.

Do we like how our supermodels are being snapped up by the film industry? Or should they stick to what they know and stay hidden and special? What do you think?
