Nicola Formichetti, Mugler's current creative director, has been making some ill-advised comments as of late which have quickly reduced his popularity. Firstly, he targeted "fat people" in an interview with W magazine, and later took to his twitter and facebook accounts to deny the comments and say he had been misquoted. Now, he has taken aim at "old people" who he believes should simply "go away". He made the comment in an interview for Elle which is featured in the latest issue of Elle Collections. He stated: "I think old people should just be old and go away."
Formichetti is close friends with Lady Gaga, who he has styled for quite some time, and his first collection with Mugler was respected - so why has he decided to become so negative all of a sudden? His recent comments won't be doing him any favours when it comes to clocking up sales - he appears narrow minded and superficial, and it doesn't seem likely he was misquoted twice.
