J.C. Penney's 'Too Pretty To Do Homework' T-Shirt Pulled From Online Store

American retailer J.C. Penney has pulled an offensive t-shirt from their online store. The t-shirt in question was for 7 to 16 year olds and says across its front: "I'm too pretty to do homework so my brother has to do it for me." The t-shirt was on sale for $9.99 down from the original $16.99. On J.C. Penney's online store, the t-shirt is marketed with a quip that reads: "Who has time for homework when there's a new Justin Bieber album out? She'll love this tee that's just as cute and sassy as she is."

A petition is circulating against the t-shirt which has accumulated around 685 signatures, and now the brand has responded to all of the complaints and pulled the t-shirt after the outrage concerning the slogan tee reached their HQ. A spokesperson for J.C. Penney commented: "J.C. Penney is committed to being America's destination for great style and great value for the whole family. We agree that the "Too pretty" t-shirt does not deliver an appropriate message, and we have immediately discontinued its sale. Our merchandise is intended to appeal to a broad customer base, not to offend them. We would like to apologize to our customers and are taking action to ensure that we continue to uphold the integrity of our merchandise that they have come to expect."

Many angered people are currently commenting on J.C. Penney's facebook page, while they insist that the incident is a mistake and something which they are "looking in to".
