Report: Marc Jacobs for Dior, Phoebe Philo to Louis Vuitton

With John Galliano out of the picture at Dior, rumors continue to swirl over who will replace him. Although it was reported a few weeks ago that Marc Jacobs might take the job, he responded to the reports saying that he hasn't been asked to take up the role. Now, Vogue UK reports that Jacobs is still a hot contender for the role, as insiders at Dior believe he will be the one to replace Galliano and have said the rumors are true.

Jacobs is currently the head designer at Louis Vuitton, so would be switching his position there for the one at Dior - and Phoebe Philo, Céline's creative director, has emerged as his Louis Vuitton replacement, but would also continue her work at Céline if she is given the job reports claim. If Philo takes up the position at Louis Vuitton, the company would likely downscale their mainline collection, perhaps returning their focus to their luxurious leather goods and accessories as was previously the case before Jacobs arrived.
