Coco Rocha Believes Models Are Scouted too Young

Candian model Coco Rocha was scouted when she was just 14-year-old, and now she has spoken on how she believes some models start too young. According to Vogue UK, Coco said in an interview with Anderson Cooper that young models "who are still minors" feel too much pressure:

"You're taking them out of high school and putting them in an industry that is treating them like adults - and they don't know how to deal with that, they're thinking about, 'how can I please you? It doesn't matter what I have to do, how can I please you?' If we were probably older, wiser, there wouldn't be as many problems - there would still be problems, but not as many."

Fellow model CarrĂ© Otis, who was also taking part in the interview, agreed with Coco, saying that young models are often put into situations which are too mature for them, such as living in an apartment in New York with other models at a young age: "I don't think any young woman should be put in that situation, period, it's like, would you let a 13 or 14-year-old drive a car? They're not ready."

The CFDA continue to move forward with their 'Model Health Initiative' which protects and educates younger models  - this Fashion Week, selected shows required models to show ID as proof of age.
