Close Up: Chanel's 'Paris - Bombay' Jewel Encrusted Pre-Fall 2012 Collection

Chanel Paris - Bombay - Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by lavish Indian jewels and silks for his latest Pre-Fall 2012 collection for Chanel,  saying that although he has never been to the country, it is almost better that way: ”It’s much more inspiring not to go to places than to go.” Mixing Chanel's signature bouclĂ© wool designs with floaty silks, turbans, bindis and sari-inspired dresses, the collection was intricately detailed and luxurious. Saturated with bright pinks, shiny black silks and metallic leather, each ensemble was accompanied by chain nose rings, hand bracelets, jeweled belts, mirrored clutch bags and sequined gold boots. The Indian theme seemed to counter balance its over-lavishness, making it a collection of decadence inspired by tradition and history.
