Close Up: Prada's Hot Rod Inspired Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

The Prada Spring/Summer 2012 collection took inspiration from all thing hot rod - flames, Cadillac cutouts on purses, and heels with rocket glued to the back. The obvious nod to automobiles was mixed in with sexy retro silhouettes - silk skimpy bandeau tops, printed pleated dresses and beaded floral coats gave the collection plenty of elegance, while prints of vintage cars and the statement accessories gave the pieces Miuccia's original quirky finishing touch. The daring shoes, structured leather totes and cartoon-esque clutches are are sure to be a hit in editorials and on the streets as we usher in the new season ahead, while those who just want a simple slice of sophistication can opt for the rose applique earrings that are dripping with diamonds, or perhaps a plum pleated sheer blouse, perfect for subtly channeling this fiery, truly inspired collection.
