Franca Sozzani Speaks on Controversial Karlie Kloss Photo

Vogue Italia editorial Franca Sozzani has opened up on the controversial image of Karlie Kloss which was taken down from the Vogue Italia website. The image in question was part of an editorial captured by Steven Meisel and features in the December 2011 issue of the magazine (see the full shoot here). Karlie Kloss has already called the shoot "iconic" and now Sozzani has said that she made a mistake by taking down the image, and that it was only removed because she didn't want to spark another pointless weight debate:
“I did not remove the first picture from the site because I thought it set a bad example due to its thinness, but because I am aware of the fact that people can easily attach labels without thinking, so I believed I could avoid a pointless debate. I made a mistake. I had to do what I thought was right, that is leave the picture and let everybody express their opinion freely. The picture is beautiful and that’s all.”
