Actress Rooney Mara has shot to fame after landing the role of Lisbeth Salander in the upcoming film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. For the role, Rooney completely transformed her look, ditching her previously ultra-feminine style for a darker fashion-forward look. First came the hair, which was changed from long glossy brunette curls to an angular black hairdo complete with a short black bowl fringe. Then Rooney adapted her style to go with the hair, opting for black lipstick and pale skin to go with her premiere looks for the film.
She wore a stunning white Givenchy cutout gown for the UK premiere, while she wowed in a shorter Prabal Gurung dress on another occasion. She was also spotted on her way to another promotional appearance wearing a woolly cape coat paired with towering nude heels and a Balenciaga bag. Her delicate yet dark style is original and sets her apart, not to mention the complete transformation in the film where she is adorned with further tattoos and piercings - an astonishing change that she slips into with ease, clearly dedicated to the part. The new Yves Saint Laurent campaign even looks like it is inspired by her - see it here.
