Marc Jacobs has explained why he didn't take the job at Christian Dior, taking over from John Galliano who was previously fired from the position. Marc says that he would prefer to stay at Louis Vuitton because he agrees it would be for the best for all involved. Speaking on the situation, Marc firstly says he is happy at Louis Vuitton:
"I am really happy and I do love working here. I just think there is so much more to do."
When asked if he was given the choice to move to Dior, he explained that it was complicated:
"Well, it's a little bit more complicated than that, but we agreed that it was probably best for everyone."
Marc also says there are other things he hopes to achieve with Louis Vuitton before he takes on other projects. The first thing he wants to do is launch the first Louis Vuitton perfume, which is already in the works at the moment with the help of perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud:
"I am very happy to be here. There is so much more left to do and building Louis Vuitton into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started. Perfume is something I wanted to do here since the beginning. I don't know when it will be launched but we are in the process of working on it - there was a perfume back in the Twenties, a very niche little thing."
