Spring 2012 Trend: Hawaiian Prints by Proenza Schouler & More

Hawaiian prints are about to ditch their dated image and are making a surprisingly fashionable comeback for Spring 2012 this year. Bright floral and leaf prints have been given a revamp by the likes of Alexander Wang, Thakoon and more, who have been inspired by spirited tropical prints that you simply can't take your eyes off. Alexander Wang went dark with his version, creating a monochrome yet busy print worn on a 90's inspired zip-up jacket, complete with leather panels and a matching print mini-skirt. Richard Chai Love splashes a peach and purple floral print on a buttoned-up shirt with sleeve cutouts, teamed with matching hotpants, a floppy hat and blue lipstick. Proenza Schouler's Hawaiian vision came in the form of a floral streamline sleeveless top, paired with crisply tailored trousers and towering wedges. Below is a look at where this trend first emerged and how each designer gave it their own update.
