NYFW: Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2012 Collection

The Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2012 collection journeyed to the ruins of a paper castle, set up as the backdrop behind the runway, as created by artist Rachel Feinstein. The collection had a mixture of inspiration - the pilgrim shoes on each models feet were taken via the 17th century, while Jacobs commented that his other source of inspiration was taken from colourful style icons such as Anna Piaggi and Lynn Yaeger. The show itself was fantastical, dark and lady-like, sort of what you might Helena Bonham Carter to wear to a picnic. With an assortment of prints, tailored double breasted coats and wide-brimming fuzzy hats, the collection was a whimsical fairytale sprinkled with glitter, dark eyeliner and hats more suitable for oversize teddy bears.
