Creative Director Nicola Formichetti took the Mugler label in a slightly new direction for the Resort 2013 collection. It was just as experimental as before, but with a sharper, more tailored vision and a powerful femininity running throughout. Strong leather structured designs in bright block colours gave the pieces unique silhouettes with a firm emphasis on the shoulders. Jackets, sweaters and tops were form-fitting with baggy loose sleeves, trousers were neatly tailored with several subtle flared pairs, and there was many asymmetrical curves added to the ends of jackets, acting as peplum style creations when paired with a neat pencil skirt. Formichetti took a fresh perspective but his output was just as stylistically satisfying as ever and will certainly continue to breathe new life into the label.
